How to get started in your RODP course... Welcome to online instruction for the RODP. Please read over this information carefully as well as the information located at links listed. -
Be sure your University of Memphis e-mail account is active. You will be receiving communication from your local RODP contact Barbara Belzer, your local RODP Student Services Specialist, Mary Crites and RODP technical and Administrative staff via this account. -
You should hear from Nancy Tompkins, Extended Programs Administrative Assistant, about signing your pay contract by the first day of class. If you have not heard from Nancy by the end of the first day, please contact her at ntompkns@memphis.edu or 901-678-2991. -
Visit the RODP Faculty Service Web Page at http://www.rodp.org/faculty/default.htm paying particular attention to calendars, "Pedagogy for Teaching Online" and "Proctoring" information. -
If you have never taught online before, make an appointment with our Advanced Learning Center at http://alc.memphis.edu/ecourseware/sessions.htm least 2 weeks prior to the start of the term to train on eCourseware. Online tutorials and one-on-one phone sessions are available for out-of-town faculty. -
Remember to update your information on the eCourseware syllabus and state a clear policy for communication with your students. Will you check e-mails daily and respond to each individual? Will you answer a question posed in multiple e-mails via individual e-mails or the discussion board? Stating you policies up front will prevent misunderstandings later. Don't forget to update calendar dates for students. -
Check the RODP Bookstore at http://www.rodp.bkstr.com/ to be sure students are ordering the correct text for your course. -
On the first day of class, communicate with each of your students by e-mail. If you have not heard from a student by Friday of the first week of class, notify Mary Crites at mewart@memphis.edu or 901-678-5784. -
Be aware that students will not be expecting assignments or exams to be due during fall or spring breaks. -
Be aware of the due date for posting your final grades. When you miss the due date, students are automatically assigned an "F" in their course and you will have to complete a Grade Change form for EACH student in the course in order to correct the grade.
